Brian O'Grady is a communications professional specializing in promotional writing and web copy. He joined TimeStep Corporation in 1998 as an Information Developer and when TimeStep was acquired by Newbridge Networks he moved into marketing to write and launch a web-based game promoting Newbridge products. Following Alcatel's purchase of Newbridge, Brian assumed a managerial role in Product Marketing and was later recruited by the Media Relations team. In 2002, he founded pens4hire. Brian holds a degree in Rhetoric and Professional Writing from the University of Waterloo.
Carla St-Germain brings nearly 20 years of experience as a senior training specialist, technical writer, and editor. She specializes in adult learning with a focus on designing courseware using delivery methods appropriate to meet both the needs of the students and the business initiatives of the company. As a product trainer, Carla travelled globally delivering customer training for GeoVision’s GIS product and received excellent reviews for her classroom delivery skills and product knowledge. As Senior Training Specialist at Bell-Northern Research (Nortel), Carla received an award of excellence for her efforts in designing the first in-house self-paced training program. Carla’s attention to detail has allowed her to consistently provide quality documentation and training curriculum with a track record of meeting deadlines on time and within budget. Her diverse experience with companies such as Nortel, SHL Systemhouse, Entrust Inc., and Cloakware, An Irdeto company includes designing, writing, and editing classroom-led training, self-paced paper-based tutorials, interactive online tutorials, user guides, programming guides, release notes, and online help. As Project Manager of National Education Projects for a Canadian not-for-profit organization, Carla supported the educational initiatives of 13 provincial/territorial branches. Her job responsibilities included media relations often times responding to media inquiries following a tragedy, producing annual reports, conducting statistical analysis, and working with federal and provincial agencies for the national accreditation of programs. Carla is bilingual (English and French) and a member in good standing with the Ontario College of Teachers.
An effective strategist by nature, Carole Sigouin brings an impressive 20 years (total) in proven leadership skills, technical/marketing writing expertise, and technical translation experience to Read Pen Inc. As a senior communications consultant, Carole has organized successful conferences and effective publicity campaigns, including comprehensive Web sites to support them. Her responsibilities have also included media relations. She has developed highly usable technical documents to support client-server applications for her clients in industry including DINMAR, Entrust Inc., and Nortel Networks. In recognition for her commitment to quality, efficiency, and ability to deliver on time and within budget, Carole received two awards of excellence (1999, 2000) and one commendation (1997) as an employee of Nortel Networks. In 2002, she successfully led the team responsible for documentation and training of the largest accounts receivable system in Canada of Human Resource Development Canada (called DARS). Carole has worked in a full-time capacity for the Translation Bureau at PWGSC as a technical translator/editor, and has written ministerial briefing notes, speeches and presentations, and a communications strategy for the Canada Communication Group as a senior communications consultant. Carole obtained her B.A. in Communications from the University of Ottawa and has continued her education in the area of Marketing Management and Business Administration.
As an accomplished Technical Writer with over 20 years of experience,
Diane O'Brien brings together strong communication
and organizational skills to maintain the balance between constantly
changing technologies and user requirements. She has written numerous
technical documents which support eBusiness software, wireless applications,
tracking systems, satellite systems (including telephones, and search
and rescue), and artificial intelligence software. Diane is a graduate
of Seneca College and demonstrates an ongoing commitment to education
through active participation in technical seminars and workshops.
Dr. Nicola Vulpe has built his reputation as a communications
and knowledge specialist on a broad range of experience: strategy definition
and implementation, Web site design and management, writing and editing,
publishing, teaching and curriculum design, media relations, and management.
In 1999, Nicola's team at Eftia OSS Solutions received an STC Award
of Merit for a documentation suite, and In 1997 he was responsible for
two sections of the Bell Canada web cited for their quality in a Dow-Jones
Web Site of the Week Citation. His industry experience includes the
following sectors: financial, telecommunications, public sector and
international development, education, food, agriculture, and library
and information management. Nicola has also published extensively outside
the high tech environment, including essays and articles on subjects
ranging from Canadian poetry to the Kurds in the Globe and Mail, the
Ottawa Citizen, and professional journals in Canada, the U. S. and Europe.
Shaun McLaughlin has over 30 years of professional writing and editing experience that includes technical writing (25 years), white papers, journalism, and web site content. He has a proven ability to contribute to information-related projects in several media, either solo or as part of a team. For the last four years, he was a senior writer at Entrust working on guides and online help for a variety of desktop and server-based security products. For the five years prior, he was a documentation specialist at Coast Software. The company made web site testing and analysis software aimed at government agencies and large corporations. Shaun was their sole technical writer/editor and expanded his role to include interface editor/designer, spec writer, and SRED writer. Other companies Shaun has contracted to include Cognos, Nortel, Time iCR, and digIT Interactive (now Nurun). In the 80s and 90s, Shaun wrote freelance articles for Harrowsmith, Chatelaine, Canadian Business, and other magazines.
Possessing excellent communications skills and working effectively with clients in both government and the private sector, Ron Stone identifies and implements solutions to business problems. Excelling at both technical and marketing communication, Ron offers a wide range of services including corporate communications consulting, documentation system design, delivery and content development; private sector market analysis, strategic planning, successful organizational planning, and start-up. Ron is a Certified AuthorIT Consultant. He is accomplished at the design and development of web sites, user guides, white papers, online help systems, application notes and courseware, and he has also produced many press releases, speeches and published articles. Ron has demonstrated his ability to successfully lead a project team in the completion of deliverables on time and within budget. Ron’s areas of technical knowledge include telecommunications, call centre management, network protocols and management, real time operating systems, open source software development, international development, housing, energy and transportation policy, environmental and agricultural reform policies.
Ron is also the founder and President of The Pangea Partnership, a non-profit organization working globally on projects that combine education, poverty alleviation and environmental reform into powerful outcomes. He is a graduate of the universities of Toronto and Ottawa.
