A note about RFP opportunities

If you are giving serious consideration to contract opportunities in the federal government as the next step in your career (perhaps to build on your previous experience in industrial settings), do not expect a quick fix. It requires considerable effort and patience for all involved parties.

The Government of Canada posts RFP opportunities in Merx.

Agents like Read Pen, submit bids in response to these opportunities as part of a competitive process. The government evaluators work closely with the government Contract Officer to review the proposals for the best match to their requirements. It is a time and labour-intensive process for all involved parties.

The evaluators are looking for an exact match, and in the interest of fairness to all competitors, cannot make inferences regarding the capabilities of each proposed candidate. You can expect the evaluation process to take at least 45 to 90 days, or longer.

If you have concerns regarding a specific requirement, your agent can contact the Contract Officer and request an amendment to the RFP document or a clarification of the requirement.

Contracts Canada offers guidelines to proposal writers.

Read Pen offers expert-level service to our clients. If your cover letter does not present you as both an accomplished technical communications expert and problem solver, then your resume will not be opened or reviewed. Resumes attached to a blank e-mail message or resumes sent without a cover letter will NOT be opened or reviewed.
